long. over. due...

I just checked my blog and realized that the last post I had made was when I was still working at Substance in August. EEK! I guess maybe if I had more free time to make artwork and sew clothing I could post more things....Sadly, this is not the case. I'm currently having a serious shortage of any free time at all. Perhaps Thanksgiving break will motivate me to do more than sleep....Perhaps.

In the meantime, some photos from Highball Halloween 2009. I wasn't able to find any really good ones of the new garment...and now there never will be because Bernadette, Brady, and I popped what was left of the balloon crinoline Monday night.

21 Pants to Pencil Skirts

The summer-skirt-saga continues with an appropriate number of pencil skirt transformations for my 21st birthday, which coincidentally fell right around the beginning of this project. Ok this one is pretty self explanatory. I've been making skirts. The first two are new, the last one I made over about 2 years ago to teach a class at Sew to Speak in Clintonville. The fabric for it was also purchased there. My goal is to start selling garments and I thought high-waisted pencil skirts would be the place to start. First I'm waiting to see if Bernadette and I get into Craftin' Outlaws, then it's off to the Short North to try finding a store to house them. I'm also planning on listing the first two on Etsy soon. Keep watching and let me know what you think!

Here are some shots from my Etsy site. I was hoping to be very productive and get all of my work photographed and start making some more jewelry but I have, alas, been lazy so far this summer. I'm hoping to get a table at Craftin' Outlaws this year to peddle my wares with Bernadette Carstensen, who is a fantastic illustrator and also my roommate.

Ayisha, the manager at "Substance," a fantastic boutique in the Shorth North District, where I am currently employed, posted a few pieces of my jewelry on the new website. This is exciting because aside from etsy, I've never had my work for sale on the web. It's just a few necklaces but I hope to make more in the upcoming summer and work towards obtaining a booth at Craftin' Outlaws in October. I'm also working on a small collection of one of a kind garments which I hope someone will be kind enough to stock in their store. Make sure to browse around the Substance website also. It's still under construction but new things are being added all the time thanks to two very talented young ladies.

Since summer has started I've mostly been working on projects at work and don't have a lot to show for it so I thought I'd post about something frivolous and silly.

False Eyelashes.

I want these on my face.

This is one element of make-up artistry I have yet to master. I love them. They are awesome. They don't stay on my face. I've tried all kinds of adhesives and I've tried trimming them to stay on my small eyes better. The edges always peel up. Why is this? I mean I know they're not practical but there must be a better solution.
